Nestled in not-so-sleepy northeast Los Angeles, Fraud Fix is figuring out new ways to avoid using a keyboard. With a quick look at his studio, one would quickly discover that not much space is needed to create some of the most unique, heavily layered, soundscapes the electronica and trip hop scenes have to offer.
Fraud Fix, also known as Mike Dennis, spent the former part of his adolescent years playing death metal guitar, while trying to suppress the irresistibility of drum and bass music. It was ultimately the likes of Squarepusher and Amon Tobin that turned Fraud from metal shredder to beat smasher. Somewhere along the way, Moshe and Fraud crossed path's - first collaborating for Appleton Internet Radio with Moshe and later becoming a contributor to the Goose Bumps Series for Milled Pavement Records.
A trademark of the Fraud Fix sound focuses on rhythm development without looping any single drum break more than twice, and a myriad of colorful melodies, key changes and crescendo's - all of which come together to create a story through his music. A narrative exists in each beat, and you feel as if you're in the middle of a movie...a soundtrack to someone's salvia trip. These musical elements are clearly evident in Fraud Fix's contemporary sound: beats laden with glitches, clacks, thousands of originally recorded samples, and melodic guitar to glue it all together.
As we ascend further into the millennium, Fraud Fix continues to expand his portfolio writing sound for cable TV ads, constantly creating new musical relationships and collaborating with local artists.
