They met each other in the Internet. Stockholm based MC THMS, formerly known as Mr. T, and Misanthrop from Munich connected via Myspace in its glorious days and exchanged beats and ideas on collaborative topics for the first time in 2007. While doing some loose collaborations and remix works, for example on THMS’s album “Glömda Egenskaper”, they soon decided to do an EP together. The opus is called “Fatalist” and has been released on Milled Pavement.
When the both are making music together, they understand each other, although they do not fully understand each other literally, as one is rapping in Swedish and the other in German. But they have many things in common: Besides being in the same international avantgardistic subgenre with links to artists like Audio88, James P Honey, …, they share the fate of sitting between generation X and generation Y, their affection for reflecting and gloomy lyrics and their love for Rap music.
When it comes to naming their musical roots, they can easily agree on “Fatalist” mainly deals with thoughts about the determination or randomness of fate, self reflection in a hectic and stressful world and the pain sometimes caused by these kind of thoughts. Everything is well articulated in both their native tongues over Misanthrop’s beats, who also cuts English phrases when it is appropriate.
